Water Twice a Week

Water the plant daily in summer and let the topsoil dry out in between the waterings. In winter, water the plant once every two days. Don’t overwater the cranberry hibiscus plant as it may cause brown spots on leaves or leaf drops.

Needs Direct Sunlight

During the summers, keep the plants in a shaded area, and in winter let them sit in direct sunlight. The extreme summers may burn the leaves if kept in direct sunlight.

Not pet friendly

The plant is free from compounds that are considered harmful to pets and humans. This makes the hibiscus pet safe for both cats and dogs.

Beginner friendly

The plant is low-maintenance and requires water timely for it to thrive. If you are someone who has a busy lifestyle or is new to gardening, this is the perfect plant for you.

About the Product

Cranberry Hibiscus has many names including African Rose Mallow, False Roselle, Maroon Mallow, or Red-Leaved Hibiscus, which is an attractive perennial shrub renowned for its vibrant foliage and culinary uses. The leaves are Deep burgundy or crimson in color serrated edges just like a Japanese maple.

As the the name suggests African Rose Mallow, the plant is native to Africa and is now cultivated in warm regions worldwide. The plant also bears flowers that are pale yellow with red centers and they bloom either late summer or early fall. Another fascinating thing about it is both the leaves and flowers are edible and are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
